Rutherford & East Maitland Columbarium
What is a Columbarium?
A Columbarium is a wall of niches to hold the ashes of loved ones. The Rutherford and East Maitland Parishes each have a Columbarium annexed to their church. For further information please contact the Parish Office or download the forms on this page.
Placing of Ashes
At the completion of the funeral service the body is cremated. A short time later, the Crematorium will contact the family and advise them that the ashes are available for collection. The family will then contact our Parish to arrange final interment of ashes in the reserved Columbarium niche. A ceremony can be performed as part of the interment OR the family can be advised after interment is completed.
Reservation of a Niche
The Applicant has the option of reserving a niche for intended use by either themselves or others. Reservation process:
- Complete Application
- Source further information from Parish if needed
- Application approval process (admin)
- Pay fee on approval of Application.
Pricing
Rutherford
The fee payable on approval of application is $440.00 including GST. This fee covers reservation and the placement of the ashes. The sealing of the niche cost is $55.00
East Maitland
The fee payable on approval of application is $550.00 including GST. This fee covers reservation and the placement of the ashes. The sealing of the niche cost is $55.00
Plaque Design
The plaques will be of standard dimensions set by the parish. The words and symbols on the plaque will also be in accordance with guidelines provided by the parish. The cost of plaques and the inscription is to be paid by the representative of the deceased. The inscribed plaque is required to be produced before interment. This process can be done by completing the plaque application and returning it to the parish office. The cost of the plaque is dependent upon the wording on the plaque.
